5 out of 10 patients recover in Gurugram

In what comes as a major good news amidst the Covid gloom, five out of 10 Covid patients from Gurugram have recovered and now tested negative.

The reports that arrived late evening left health authorities of the city in high spirits.

Among those who have recovered are the first patient here, a Sector 9-A resident. The 29-year-old woman with a travel history to Malaysia was the first case reported here.

The Nirvana Country couple with travel history to London too has now tested negative along with the brother-sister duo from Palam Vihar where the 22-year-old sister was a student in London and had returned to Gurugram.

Three of these patients were admitted to Fortis Memorial Research Institute while one was being treated at Safdurjung Delhi. The woman patient of Nirvana Country was in self-isolation as she had exhibited no symptoms.

The doctors claimed that it was symptomatic and supportive treatment which led to recovery. Though the news has raised hope, health authorities have warned against any laxity in quarantine or lockdown, claiming the city to be “most vulnerable”.

“We have an edge as we started early with work from home after a Paytm employee tested positive as we had realised that we as a city are at great risk. Doctors are doing all it takes to fight and the recovery is credited to them.

“We have had no positive case in the past four days, but the next two weeks are crucial as around 5,000 people are still quarantined. Maintain this lockdown or the city will be at great risk,” said CMO Dr JS Poonia.

“As a doctor, it is a great victory, but I know that worse may lie ahead. We are doing and will do whatever we can to save lives, but we request people to stay at homes and prevent Covid. We followed a symptomatic treatment and now are equipped with dealing with serious cases also. But let’s try to escape this by being at our homes,” said Dr Manoj Goyal of Fortis Memorial Institute.

“We still are in a vulnerable state and cannot be lax for the next two weeks. People have been flocking with requests to allow relaxation in lockdown, but we know that danger still lurks,” said DC Amit Khatri.
