Members of the Indian Medical Association, Amritsar chapter, staged a protest against the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill under the leadership of Dr Ashok Uppal.
IMA’s Amritsar president Dr Ashok Uppal said doctors boycotted medical services for 12 hours on Saturday to protest the government move. He said the plan to replace the Medical Council of India with the proposed National Medical Commission was against the interests of doctors, patients and medical students.
