Independent candidate from Ward No. 85 attacked

AMRITSAR: Independent candidate from ward number 85 Lakhwinder Babbu today accused Congress candidate Ajay Pappu of firing and threatening him.

Independent candidate from ward number 85 Lakhwinder Babbu today accused Congress candidate Ajay Pappu of firing and threatening him. The incident occurred last evening. However, the police have registered a case against unknown persons regarding the incident. Lakhbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (city –II) said, investigations were underway.

Babbu said, Pappu and his supporters were armed with pistols. During heated arguments, Pappu’s supporters fired at him and he had a narrow escape. He alleged, the police found four empty shells from the spot. SHO Chheharta Lakhwinder Singh, reached the spot and carried out investigations.

Pappu, however, contended that all the allegation levelled by Babbu baseless. He did not have any firearm with him. He said, Babbu was in inebriated and entered in a brawl with him.

ADCP said, after conducting a preliminary probe, the police have registered a case against unknown persons. He said during investigations, if anyone is found guilty, he would be booked in the case.
