Jail inmate injures two, booked

AMRITSAR:A jail inmate was booked by the police for allegedly injuring two other prisoners here on Sunday.

A jail inmate was booked by the police for allegedly injuring two other prisoners here on Sunday. 

Yodhbir Singh, a convict in the drug peddling case, injured another prisoner Jatinder Singh while changing the barracks. A case had been registered against him while further investigations were underway. 

Gurdeep Singh, Assistant Superintendent, Amritsar Central Jail, said the court had convicted Yodhbir in a drug peddling case registered against him in June 2014. On Thursday he had a quarrel with another prisoner Avtar Singh. He said during the shifting of prison barrack he again attacked on another prisoner Jatinder Singh. Both prisoners were admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment, he said.

 A case was registered after getting medico legal report of both the victims. Sub Inspector Amar Nath of Fatahpur police chowki and investigating officer in the case said the police had registered a case under Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC and Section 52 of the Prisons Act. Further probe was under progress, he added. They are unable to leave their prison barracks .
