The Amritsar rural police claimed to have found vital clues in connection with Wednesday’s robbery incident in which a scrap dealer, Rakesh Chopra, of Medical Enclave was robbed of Rs 1.5 lakh by three armed persons in Jandiala Guru. The robbers had decamped with a bag containing the cash and a laptop.
SSP Parampal Singh said, “With the help of the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area, the police have found some vital clues. The case will be cracked soon.”
Rakesh Chopra, along with his employee Pappu, was going to his shop in Jandiala Guru in his car when three motorcycle-borne youths intercepted him near Grace Public School, Bandala road. He said he was collecting the cash from his clients on his way to the shop. He said they fired at the tyres of his car to make it flat. Later, they snatched his bag after pointing a pistol at him. They fled towards Tarn Taran side, he said.
The Jandiala Guru police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the IPC and 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act against unknown robbers. Further investigation is under way, the police said.
