The authorities of the district Education Department have urged non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to help them meet basic infrastructure in government schools.

Recently, the District Education Officer (Secondary), Salvinder Singh Samra, held a meeting with representatives of various NGOs.

In the past, the state Education Department had urged non-governmental organisations, members of civil societies, non-resident Indians to donate or adopt government schools.

The concept of self-smart schools was also discussed with the representatives of the NGOs.

The District Education Officer said, “Non-governmental organisations are already doing a lot for our schools. It was our way to ask them to meet basic infrastructure. The aim is to make schools better for the students.”
