A woman from Ludhiana has been nabbed for reportedly stealing gold bangles from a devotee at the Golden Temple. The accused has been identified as Iqbal Kaur, alias Aaki, a resident of Pakhowal.

Complainant Jeet Kaur said she came to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple. Due to heavy rush, she moved towards Dukh Bhanjani Beri to get holy water. While heading towards the sarovar (holy pond), a woman cut her gold bangles from her left hand using a sharp-edge weapon. The complainant felt something unusual while walking and she got suspicious over the accused who was walking alongside her.

When she raised the alarm, other devotees nabbed the woman and recovered gold bangles worth Rs 80,000.

ASI Sardool Singh said a case under Sections 379 and 411 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered.
