Bathinda: The Maur police on Sunday booked three persons for stealing Rs 30,000 from a shop at Maur Mandi.



Bathinda: The Maur police on Sunday booked three persons for stealing Rs 30,000 from a shop at Maur Mandi. In a complaint lodged by Pawan Bansal, a resident of Maur Mandi, it has been alleged that three unidentified persons entered his shop on the night of December 19 and stole Rs 30,000 from the cash box. A case has been registered after 50 days of the incident. Investigating officer Gurdev Singh said a case under Sections 380 and 34 of the IPC had been registered at the Maur police station. Regarding the delay, he said the victim approached them on Saturday and they registered the case immediately. In another case, a servant has stolen two pen drives, a labour register and some documents from the office of a contractor. The Rama police have booked the accused after four months of the incident. The accused has been identified as Sunil Kumar, a resident of Sekhu village. In a complaint lodged by Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Model Town, Bathinda, it has been stated that Sunil had stolen his material from his office situated near the refinery at Ramsara village. Some time ago, Sunil approached him for work and when he gave the former a job. After 15 days, in September 2017, Sunil left the office and never came back. When Gurpreet checked, he found the above material missing. SHO Harbans Singh said a case was registered under Section 380 of the IPC against Sunil Kumar. TNS

One arrested with heroin

Bathinda: The Thermal police on Sunday arrested a person with 7 gms of heroin from the Goniana road. The police had set up a check-post near Malwa College. The accused has been identified as Lakhbir Singh, a resident of Goniana Kalan village. A case under Sections 22, 62 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him. TNS

3 youths injured in mishap

Malout: Three youths sustained severe injuries after the car they were travelling in collided with a tractor-trailer near the grain market in Malout town on Sunday. Jashandeep and Pardeep Kumar, both residents of Jandwala village, and Rohit Kumar of Dabwali were going to a marriage palace on Muktsar road after dropping someone at Jandwala village when the mishap occurred. The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital and then referred to Bathinda. Meanwhile, the tractor driver managed to flee from the spot. The police have started investigation. TNS
