Athletics meet kicks off at GZSCCET

BATHINDA: Annual athletic meet at Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET), a unit of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) kicked off amid sporting action on Thursday.

Annual athletic meet at Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET), a unit of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) kicked off amid sporting action on Thursday.

Two day long athletic meet saw 175 athletes participating in different events on day one. Navin Kumar Singla, SSP Bathinda was the chief guest on the occasion.

Singla advised the students to be determined, hardworking and passionate about their studies as well as sports. He gave examples of China’s success story in Olympics to motivate the participants, besides congratulating them on International Women’s Day.

In men’s category, Amritpal Singh won the 800m race while Gurpreet Singh stood second and Preet Arsh finished third. Arashdeep Singh won the 400m race while Jagjot Singh and Manish Kumar bagged second and third position respectively.

Ajaypal Singh won the 100 meter race while Rakesh Kumar and Mandeep Singh bagged second and third positions respectively. — TNS
