Faridkot, September 2
A 32-year-old drug addict allegedly killed his father on late Saturday night as the latter declined to transfer his agriculture land in the name of the accused.
After a sister-in-law of the accused lodged a complaint with the Jaito police in Faridkot, the police have registered a case of murder against Manjodh Singh of Bishnandi village.
According to the complaint, Sukhmander Singh, the deceased, had transferred the ownership of a large part of his land in the name of his two sons — Manjodh Singh and his brother — some time ago.
It is alleged that Manjodh Singh had sold off his share of the agriculture land.
For the past few days, he was pressuring his father to transfer his own (father’s) share of property in his name, but Sukhmander Singh didn’t agree to this demand. He was apprehensive that his son would sell the land for drugs.
It is alleged that on Saturday late night, during an exchange of arguments, Manjodh Singh attacked his father with a sharp-edged weapon and inflicted five deadly injuries, killing him on the spot.
After registering a criminal case under Section 302 of the IPC against Manjodh Singh, the police have started searching for him. — TNS
