Man arrested on murder charge

Bathinda, February 14

A woman in her 40s was allegedly murdered on Wednesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Baljinder Kaur (42), a resident of Bhaini in Nathana block.

After conducting a preliminary investigation, the police arrested a man, identified as Surinder Singh, on Thursday.

ASI Jaswinder Singh from the Nathana police station, said, “Deceased’s son Vicky told the police that his mother had gone to take money from the accused. When she did not return, he went to fields where she had gone to meet the accused. He told the police that after seeing him, the accused fled from there.”

Vicky said in his statement that when he opened the door of the tubewell room in fields, he saw his mother lying unconscious. He added that the accused used to behave inappropriately with his mother.

The police have registered a case of murder against the accused and sent the body to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. After the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family. — TNS
