Bathinda, December 8

Punjab State Ministerial Services Union will carry out a state-wide agitation here on Monday. This was stated during a state-level meeting conducted by high power committee executive members of the union in Bathinda on Sunday.

Notably, ministerial staff members demand payment of salaries, DA instalments, implementation of the sixth Pay Commission Report and restoration of old-pension scheme for those recruited after 2004 among other demands.

State president of the union Megh Singh Sidhu said, “We have been protesting and staging agitations for a long period now but the state government has adopted an indifferent approach towards our demands. We would not tolerate the same and have decided to launch a state-wide protest against the government for failing miserably to fulfil our demands.”

Sidhu added, “Post Monday’s agitation, if the state government did not relent and fulfil our demands, we would be left with no other alternative than to intensify the stir in the coming days.”

Accusing the government of making false promises, representative members of the state unit of the Punjab State Ministerial Service Union said the government did not leave any option for them and intensifying agitation was the only way forward now.
