Members of Punjab Ayurvedic Medicine Services Association have condemned the recent statement of the FazilkaChief Medical Officer (CMO) in which he said “ayurvedic doctors could not prescribe allopathic medicines”.
The State Council of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicines has decided to bring the matter to the notice of the Health Minister.
The Registrar of Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine, Punjab, Dr Sanjeev Goyal, said: “It is unfortunate that such statement has come from a person holding a responsible post. There are a large number of doctors, who have complained to me regarding the statement. It has been decided that we would meet both state Health Minister and Medical Education Minister to bring the matter to their notice.”
Dr Sanjeev Pathak, president, Punjab Ayurvedic Medicine Services Association, said: “We condemn the statement made by the Fazilka CMO.”
CMO Dr Daler Singh Multani said: “There was a particular case in the district in which a doctor was not adhering to ethical medical practices so we had to take appropriate action against him. He had been prescribing 100% allopathic medicines, which is unethical as he is not qualified for it. ”— TNS
