Unhappy over the collapsed sewerage system and incidents of sewage overflowing in the city, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal on Sunday gave a dressing down to officials of the Sewerage and Water Supply Board, Triveni company and MCB during a meeting at the MCB meeting hall.

Manpreet Badal directed the XEN of the Sewerage Board to work seriously. “We will not allow his transfer from here as earlier too he had taken a transfer due to work pressure,” he said.

He told the officials to work as a team and resolve their internal departmental issue at the earliest.

He took on the officials over their negligence as it took two days for rainwater disposal at Sirki Bazaar when it last rained.

Manpreet said there would be no shortage of funds from the government for repairs of motors and other expenses during the monsoon season.

The district administration has separate fund allotment for MC flood control unit and that can be used for addressing such problems, he said.

Manpreet directed the officials to take all measures at the earliest and nobody would be spared if there was negligence in work.

Municipal Commissioner Dr Rishipal Singh, Triveni company DGM VB Shivangi, Sewerage Board XEN SD Kansal, XEN Sandeep Gupta, Congress leaders Arun Wadhwan, Mohan Lal Jhumba, Pawan Mani, Harjot Singh, KK Aggarwal, Rajan Garg and others were present during the meeting.
