People visiting the Regional Transport Office are a harried lot as the Transport Department’s newly introduced software Vahan 4.0 is continuously developing technical snags. As a result, people often have to return frustrated from the office.

Visitors rue that they have not been able to transfer ownership of vehicles as the Registration Certificate (RC) is not getting activated on the department’s software. If it gets activated then the fee does not get updated on the portal.

They say that due to incomplete process of transferring vehicles, they are vulnerable as the vehicle concerned can be used for criminal purposes. Besides, they will not be able to claim insurance cover in case of any untoward incident.

Upender Kumar, area manager, AU small finance bank, said, “After sanctioning the loans for vehicles we have to upload the details of the RCs for the respective vehicle, but for the last four months we have been facing a lot of problems.”

He said they were not getting the details of RCs.

When contacted, Manish Chaudhary, section officer, RTA, admitted that the software was not working properly. Besides, they had taken up the matter with higher officials to resolve the problem at the earliest.
