Three land in police net for printing fake currency

FARIDKOT: Two days after arresting a person with fake currency of Rs3 lakh and a pistol, the Faridkot police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested his three accomplices for printing fake currency from Sangrur district.

Faridkot, April 23

Two days after arresting a person with fake currency of Rs3 lakh and a pistol, the Faridkot police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested his three accomplices for printing fake currency from Sangrur district.

Rajbachan Singh Sidhu, SSP, Faridkot said all of them were in the business of printing fake currency and were using it to purchase psychotropic drugs.

On April 21, the CIA Staff of the Faridkot police had arrested Balwinder Singh, a resident of Jaito town, with fake currency when he was riding a bike with no registration number.

A preliminary investigation revealed that he was accused in four criminal cases, including a drug smuggling case.

His accomplices have been identified as Baljit Singh, alias Jeeti, of Longowal, Jagsir Singh of Dulat village and Banta Singh of Sherpur area.

The police have recovered a printer from Banta Singh, which was used to by the accused to print fake currency. He is also facing two criminal cases. One of these cases is related to possessing fake currency. In the other one, he was booked on a charge of murder.
