CHANDIGARH:Aditya and Lakshya came from behind to beat Sarthak and Harmanjot in a marathon three-setter to enter the boys’ U-16 doubles final in the STA-AITA talent Series Tennis Tournament at the Chandigarh Club Complex, Sector 1, here on Thursday.

Aditya and Lakshya came from behind to beat Sarthak and Harmanjot in a marathon three-setter to enter the boys’ U-16 doubles final in the STA-AITA talent Series Tennis Tournament at the Chandigarh Club Complex, Sector 1, here on Thursday.  

Aditya and Lakshya  lost the opening set 6-7(4) but kept their spirits up to seize the next two sets 6-3 10-5 to set up the final date with Avish and Sukhpreet, who steamrolled Arnav and Anirudh 6-0 6-0 in the other semifinal.

In the boys’ U-16 singles semifinals, Lakshya Gupta rallied from a set down to beat his doubles partner Aditya Chauhan, while Sukhpreet Singh Jhojhe overcame Sarthak Gandhi in a see-saw battle.

Lakshya lost the first 0-6, but came back strongly to win the next two sets 6-1 6-1 to set up the summit clash with Sukhpreet. 

Sukhpreet gained the initial lead with a 6-4 win in the opening set, but Sarthak restored the parity with a 6-3 win in the second set. Sukhpreet though clinched the decider 6-3 to move into the final.   

Ekamjeet moves ahead

Ekamjeet Singh, meanwhile, registered a 6-2 6-2 win over Gurpuneet Singh in the boys’ U-14 semifinals.  

In the final, Ekamjeet will face Shraey Vir, who dumped Aryan Aggarwal 6-0 6-0 in the semis.

Bhumika Gupta downed Anusha Verma 6-0 6-4 to enter the girls’ U-14 final.
