Chandigarh, February 21

Advocate Partap Singh has been elected to represent the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana in the Bar Council of India (BCI).

He was elected as member of the BCI during a meeting of the newly elected members of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana at Law Bhawan in Sector 37-A here today.

Meanwhile, Gurtej Singh Grewal was elected as the vice-chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana and Suvir Sidhu as honorary secretary. Sidhu is the youngest member of the bar council to become its honorary secretary.

Vijender Ahlawat, chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, informed that the General House of the bar council observed a two-minute silence in the memory of the Pulwama martyrs. Later, it declared an assistance of Rs 3 lakh for the CRPF and Rs 2 lakh for the Indian Army.

The House also passed a resolution to provide free legal assistance to the families of martyrs and ensure that donations made by public reach them.
