Ambala, June 12

The body of a 14-year-old boy, who drowned in the Narwana branch canal in Ambala City, was recovered from near Segta village today.

Abhishek, a Class X student, allegedly drowned in the canal on Saturday. The police had booked three persons, including a woman and a minor, in the case on the complaint of the victim’s father.

In his complaint to the police, Abhishek’s father Pawan Kumar, a resident of Ekta Vihar, Ambala Cantonment, had alleged that on June 8, his wife had received a call from the suspect asking her to send Abhishek as he wanted to take him to teach swimming. Later, three children reached their home and took Abhishek. Around 1 pm, they received a call that Abhishek had drowned in the canal. Pawan had alleged that neither the suspect nor Abhishek knew swimming. They had not hired any tutor to teach swimming to them.

The family alleged that the two suspects (a man and a woman) took tuition in Ambala Cantonment and Abhishek was beaten up a few days ago during the tuition by the woman. He was also asked to not come for tuition again. Abhishek might have seen something wrong at the tuition that led to his death. A case was registered under Sections 302 and 120-B of the IPC.

SHO of the Naggal police station said, “The body has been handed over to the family after autopsy.”
