A car was taken away at gunpoint on the road separating Sector 5 and 6 here on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
The victim, Anil Kumar (40), a chef at a Morni-based hotel, was on the way to his home in Sector 41, Chandigarh, when the incident took place.
Talking to Chandigarh Tribune, Anil Kumar said around 1 am a car hit his Swift Dzire from the rear side near Shalimar Mall. He came out to check who had hit his car. All of a sudden, two youths came out from a white i20 car and pointed pistols at him, he said.
He said they were a total of five people. While two pointed pistols at him, the remaining three were inside the car.
The two robbers demanded his car keys and threatened that if he did not cooperate with them, they would kill him. He handed over the keys after which they drove away the car.
Later, he took help from a motorcyclist and reached the Sector 5 police station and lodged a complaint.
He said there were two laptops and Rs 8,000 in his car. The carjackers threw his mobile phone, which was also in the car, near the Shalimar Mall roundabout, which was recovered this morning, he said.
Karamvir, SHO of the Sector 5 police station, said they had registered an FIR.
