Chandigarh has been maintaining its beauty since its inception. A smart integrated e-governance project should always be kept in mind as the city is inching closer to becoming more than a smart city. This was stated by  Kapil Setia, Chief Architect, Chandigarh, while addressing a gathering on the second day of the ARCHIBUILD-2017, an exhibition-cum-conference being organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Himachal Bhawan, Sector 28. The Tribune is the media partner for the event.

“e-goverance will not only help strengthen the entire system but also improve the quality of life,” added Setia.

The fifth edition of the exhibition-cum-conference on building materials and allied industry is being organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with the Indian Institute of Architects, Chandigarh and Punjab.

In view of expanding the prosperity of the city, Setia announced a command control centre and disaster management cell to cope with any form of calamities in near future. He said a subway between Sectors 16 and 17 will be soon provided.

Earlier, Balkar Singh, senior manager, Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), felt the need to construct next generation buildings, which helped in energy conservation. “We need to strengthen the potential of solar power and PEDA is converting numerous building into eco-friendly ones,” said Balkar Singh.
