Passengers at the Chandigarh Airport were a harried lot today as various airline operators called off their Mumbai-bound flights owing to incandescent rains there.
It was on Monday night that Spice Jet Jaipur-Mumbai aircraft carrying 167 odd passengers skidded off the runway due to heavy downpour while landing at the Mumbai airport.
Playing safe, two airline operators have announced cancellation of their flights from Chandigarh to Mumbai, whereas four other flights arrived and departed late by over two hours.
According to information, Air India has cancelled its 8:30 am Mumbai flight and GoAir also cancelled its 11 am Mumbai flight. Airline operators said they had informed the passengers about the cancellation of flights.
There are a total of 6 flights operating on the Chandigarh-Mumbai-Chandigarh sector and four flights reached late here. Indigo flights 6E-495 and 6E-734 were delayed by one to two hours and Vistara flight UK 651 having scheduled arrival of 4 pm reached at 6:05 pm and subsequently departed late at 7:05 pm from Chandigarh.
Similarly, GoAir flight G8-2506 also reached late. It departed late from Chandigarh by over 90 minutes. — TNS
