Police book owner, manager of two hotels

CHANDIGARH: The UT police have booked the owner and manager of two hotels in Daria for allowing the five accused in the temple theft cases to stay on one ID proof.

The UT police have booked the owner and manager of two hotels in Daria for allowing the five accused in the temple theft cases to stay on one ID proof. Amarnath Mishra, owner, and Bharat Ram Shukla, manager, of Deep Palace Hotel as well as Sun Shine Hotel in Daria, were booked under Section 188 of the IPC.

All five persons were to give their respective ID proof as per orders of the District Magistrate, UT, which was not adhered to. The police are verifying whether the lone ID proof was correct or not. If found fake, they will initiate action, said the SHO of the Industrial Area police station, Inspector Zahid Parvez Khan.

 The accused are in five-day police remand since Wednesday and have been taken to Delhi and Uttarakhand by a police team. This has been done to arrest the remaining accused and recover the rest of the stolen articles, said the SHO of the Sector 26 police station, Jaspal Singh Bhullar.

On Wednesday, the police had claimed to have solved five temple theft cases in Chandigarh and Panchkula that took place this year with the arrest of three persons. Rehsam Singh, alias Rinku (24), Harjeet Singh, alias Jeet (30), and Manbeer Singh, alias Dimple (28), were arrested from Delhi with the help of the Delhi Police.
