Rail traffic remains paralysed

CHANDIGARH: Dense fog in the morning paralysed train operations today. Madurai-Chandigarh Superfast Express was delayed by 17 hours and 39 minutes. Kalka-Howrah Mail remained cancelled even today.

Chandigarh, January 6

Dense fog in the morning paralysed train operations today. Madurai-Chandigarh Superfast Express was delayed by 17 hours and 39 minutes. Kalka-Howrah Mail remained cancelled even today.

Lucknow-Chandigarh Superfast Express also recorded a delay of five hours and 15 minutes. It was expected to reach the station at 10.10 am, but it reached here at 3.25 pm. Kalka Shatabdi also got delayed by two hours and reached the station at 1.5 pm.

However, as the sky cleared, the movement of trains started coming back on track. The afternoon Shatabdi and other trains left the station on time. — TNS

City sees season’s lowest temperature

The city on Saturday recorded the lowest temperature of the season with the mercury tumbling to 3.2 degree Celsius. In 2016, the city had recorded a minimum temperature of 0.7 degree Celsius. After dipping to 13.3 degree Celsius, the maximum temperature showed an upward trend and settled at 17.3 degree Celsius. According to weathermen, the sky will remain clear with moderate to dense fog in the morning and evening on Sunday.
