In yet another incident of stalking and a kidnapping bid, two car-borne miscreants allegedly stalked, abused and tried to kidnap two college students in Sector 36 last evening.

Sources said the two girls, both pursuing BA from a private college and staying as paying guests in Sector 36, had gone to the nearby market to purchase something.

While returning to the PG accommodation, the girls were followed by two middle-aged men in a black car bearing a Punjab registration number.

The sources said the accused, who were allegedly drunk, passed lewd comments at the victims. The victims ignored the accused and kept walking towards their PG accommodation.

The accused then stopped their car ahead of the victims and abused them. The accused asked the victims to sit in the car.

The victims somehow managed to escape from there and went to the Sector 36 police station to report the matter. The victims noted down the registration number of the car and gave it to the police. “Since the victims were scared, they gave a complaint asking the police to issue a warning to the accused,” the sources said.

Cops yet to verify car number

The number of the car was provided to the police on Sunday evening. However, even 24 hours later, the police are yet to verify the number. Investigating officer Sukwinder Singh said the victims wanted the accused to be called to the police station and reprimanded following which a case was not registered. He said they were yet to verify the registration number of the car provided by the victims.
