UT starts process to formulate parking policy

CHANDIGARH:The Chandigarh Administration has started the process to formulate a policy regarding the issue of parking.

The Chandigarh Administration has  started the process  to formulate a policy regarding the issue of parking. The aim of this policy is to encourage alternative modes of transportation, reduction in need for parking, accidents and pollution. 

The policy draft will now be sent to various departments for inputs. The Chief Architect, Department of Urban Planning, gave a presentation regarding it UT Adviser Manoj Parida. 

Earlier, a draft policy was notified  in 2017 for objections/suggestions. At that time, 145 suggestions were received. Now the policy has been redrafted after incorporating relevant suggestions.   

The meeting was attended by the Secretary (Transport); Finance Secretary-cum-Secretary (Urban Planning); Home Secretary-cum-Secretary (Local Government); Deputy Commissioner; Commissioner, Municipal Corporation; Chief Engineer, UT; Chief Engineer, MC; SSP (Traffic); and Director (Transport) besides officials from the Department of Urban Planning.
