Panchkula, January 10

Shama Parveen, who was arrested for stoning her husband Islam to death in Morni block of the district, has alleged that her spouse was torturing her to force her into prostitution.

Shama, who is in police remand, had revealed to the police that Islam was living with his family in Naraingarh where his brother was also living in a separate room. Both brothers worked as labourers. She said Islam used to beat her in inebriated condition. This had become an everyday affair even though she tried to convince him that everything would be fine, but to no avail, she said.

“When I resisted Islam’s attempts to force me into prostitution, he began torturing me and even thrashed me. Fed up with this, I narrated the whole matter to one of my confidants and we decided to kill Islam,” Shama said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Islam was found murdered at a resort at Plasra village in Morni block of the district on January 6.

Naveen Kumar, Station House Officer at the Chandimandir Police Station, said the second accused in the case had been identified, who was a resident of Khatauli village in Barwala block of the district. He said raids were being conducted at the possible hideouts to nab him.
