New Delhi, August 14

Two men were arrested for smuggling liquor in washing machine carton on cycle rickshaw, said DCP (southeast).

During night picket checking at Delhi-Faridabad border, interstate country-made liquor smugglers — Aatma Yadav (25) and Hariram (46) — both resident of Faridabad, were found carrying a washing machine carton in a rickshaw, in which they had hidden 30 cartons comprising 1,500 quarters of country-made liquor permitted to be sold in Haryana only. On seeing the police barricade, the accused tried to return but the police  intercepted them.

Accused persons disclosed that they used to work as rickshaw puller and unskilled labour in Faridabad but to earn quick money, they planned to smuggle liquor from Faridabad to Delhi and sell it at higher rates since August 15 is observed as a dry day, the DCP said.
