Pained at Pulwama attack, great loss: Baijal

NEW DELHI:In the wake of an attack on a CRPF bus in Pulwama, in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed and several injured, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal said: “In solidarity with the country, I am pained at the terror attack on the Srinagar-Jammu highway and salute the jawans who sacrificed their lives while protecting the nation.

In the wake of an attack on a CRPF bus in Pulwama, in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed and several injured, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal said: “In solidarity with the country, I am pained at the terror attack on the Srinagar-Jammu highway and salute the jawans who sacrificed their lives while protecting the nation.”

“It is an irreparable loss for the country and I offer condolences to the bereaved families and wish speedy recovery for those injured,” said Baijal, addressing the audience during the 72nd Raising Day Parade of the Delhi Police.

Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, paid tributes to the martyrs of the Pulwama terrorist attack and hoped for the speedy recovery the injured personnel. 

Baijal also inspected the parade comprising contingents of the anti-riot squad, armed police, women police, police commandos, dog squad, mounted police, traffic squad, women constables on bicycle, mobile cyber lab, PCR squad, SWAT and RakshakVajra. Contingents of the Maharashtra Police, UP Police and Haryana Police also took part in the march past, which was synchronised with the Delhi Police band. He presented medals to 46 police personnel for 

Gallantry, President Medal of Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Services. 

The trophy of the Best Police Station was bagged by the KN Katju police station, while the Malviya Nagar police station and Khayala ended up as I and II runners-up, respectively. 

Commissioner of Police, Delhi, reiterated their commitment to fighting terrorism being the topmost priority of the Delhi Police.
