Earlier, elaborate security arrangements were in place at all counting centres in Punjab on Saturday morning as counting got underway at 8.

As many as 54 counting centres were set up at 27 locations. Around 14,000 officials were deployed for the smooth conduct of counting.

Barricades were put near Sangrur town and only cars and government vehicles were allowed on the Sangrur- Malerkotla road as counting started at Bardwal College located on this road.
