Deputy Commissioner Prabhjot Singh today directed district officials to get illegal construction in ‘Rangia Mandi’ removed for the construction of the dedicated Eastern Freight Corridor.

He also asked the Revenue Department to get the demarcation of 98 acres of land done under the excise area in Ambala Cantonment so that the land could be vacated for the project. Besides the corridor project, the 1857 Shaheed Samarak and the Regional Science Centre will also come up on this land. The Deputy Commissioner asked the SDM to persuade the people, who have built their houses illegally on this land, to vacate it otherwise police force will be used to get it vacated. Prabhjot Singh said “Those cooperating with the administration will be provided flats under the Ashiyana project in HUDA sectors on instalments. They will also be compensated by the Railways.”—TNS
