Rohtak, August 29

While the state government has maintained that the case of arson and violence at the house and school of Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu had been handed over to the CBI, the special investigating team (SIT) probing the case has stepped up the hunt for suspects who are still at large.

Talking to The Tribune today, head of the SIT Siddharth Dhanda, DSP, maintained that they had urged the court to declare 19 persons, who had not joined investigation, as proclaimed offenders.

He disclosed that 40 persons had been arrested in connection with the matter of which 12 had been named in the FIR.

Dhanda further revealed that some of the arrested persons had told them that they had planned the arson at Capt Abhimanyu’s place in advance.

It may be pertinent to mention here that the investigators were initially under the impression that the arson and violence at the minister’s house was in retaliation for the firing incident near the local IGP’s office.

On being asked why the SIT was still working on the case when it had been handed over to the CBI, Dhanda said they were yet to receive any official communication in this regard, and the investigation would continue till the receipt of official orders.
