The state BJP was not in favour of holding the Budget session of the government in Gairsain as it would unnecessarily put a financial burden on the government, party president Ajay Bhatt said while addressing mediapersons here today.

“We are not in favour of wasting money when the infrastructure over there has not been developed. We have already declared that Gairsain will be developed as a summer capital and we will work for it,” said Bhatt when he was queried on the party’s views on the venue of the upcoming Budget session, which will start from June 8.

Significantly, last year under the Congress government, the Uttarakhand legislative Assembly had passed a resolution in favour of holding the next Budget session in Gairsain.

Bhatt said the Uttarakhand BJP was of the view that the new BJP government need not copy what the previous Congress government had done. “We will first develop suitable infrastructure required for a summer capital and then think about other things,” said Bhatt.

Speaking on the achievements of the Modi government that completed three years, Bhatt said, “Three years of the Modi government’s rule will be written in golden letters for being corruption free.” He cited several schemes that the Modi government had announced for Uttarakhand, including the all-weather road for Char Dham yatra.
