The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has failed to allot various properties, including booths on the new overbridge in Sector 17, in the subway connecting Sector 17 and 22, at the food street in Sector 48, at the market in Sector 41 and at the shopping complex in Mauli Jagran.

As a result, the MC is suffering a revenue loss of crores.

In November 2013, the civic body had constructed 40 booths on the newly built overbridge in Sector 17, but these have not been allotted yet.

In the auction in October last year, there were no takers for 40 booths constructed on the overbridge in Sector 17 and 11 booths in the subway connecting Sectors 17 and 22. Similarly, the MC also failed to allot six built-up booths at the food street in Sector 48.

In 2014, before the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections came into force, former Senior Deputy Mayor and area councillor Davesh Moudgil had inaugurated the project on February 23. In September 2014, the MC General House had decided to auction a cluster of six food stalls in Sector 48.

As the MC failed to allot these, the shops, constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh, started wearing.

Similarly, the MC also failed to allot the shopping centre at Vikasnagar in Mauli Jagran.
