Dehradun, July 18

Congress front organisation, the Youth Congress,  National Students Union of India (NSUI), Mahila Congress and Sewa Dal, workers will gherao Parliament on July 20 to protest the failure of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government to check inflation of essential commodities.

Bhuvan Kapri, president of the Uttarakhand unit of the Youth Congress, talking to mediapersons, here today claimed that all necessary arrangements had been made for the gherao of Parliament. He said the youth were disappointed with the working of the Modi government as it had failed to provide jobs to two crore youth it had promised during 2014 poll. Moreover, the government had been confronting the youth rather than doing something for them.

He alleged that the BJP-led government had only tried to cheat the youth by empty slogans and pseudo-nationalism. He said the proposed reforms in the education sector had yet to be seen while there was no action against corrupt officials.

He said the BJP had befooled the people on the issue of bringing back black money from Swiss banks.

Sarita Arya, president of the Uttarakhand unit of the Mahila Congress, said the BJP government had failed to check inflation as the prices of all essential commodities had skyrocketed. The prices of cereals had crossed Rs 200 per kilogram.

She said while Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been indulging in jingoism, the common people of the country were suffering. She charged that the political drama to topple the elected governments in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh had exposed the BJP. She said the Central Government had denied the state government grant even for disaster relief.
