Vidhan Sabha Speaker BBL Butail has convened an all party meeting tomorrow to ensure smooth conduct of the month-long budget session of the Assembly, commencing on March 1.

Talking to media persons here today, the Vidhan Sabha Speaker said that with this being the last budget session having 21 sittings from March 1 to April 7, he is hopeful that discussion would be held on issue of public importance like construction of roads, preparation of DPRs, wild animal menace, stray dog problem, upgradation and opening of new health and education al institutions.

The Speaker said he would request all the members of the house to raise issues of public concern forcefully but not create ruckus, as that does not help solve the problem. “I am confident that the outcome of the all-party meeting will be positive and both the ruling and opposition members will fully cooperate in the smooth conduct of the house,” he said.

The Vidhan Sabha Speaker regretted that precious time of the Assembly had been lost during the last four year due to disruptions and walk outs.

“The opposition must try to raise issues of their constituents during the session with the government so that a solution can be found”, he said.

Butail said that during his entire term as Speaker he had given time to every legislator to raise issues. “I am one of them and will never deny them an opportunity to speak but I also have to keep in mind the norms and rules of the house,” he said.

He remarked that the issues which are pending in courts and are sub judice cannot be discussed in the house.

He said the members had sent several questions on various topics and also discussions under various rules.

He said there was no intimation about any Bill being placed in the house so far.
