KC Public School today celebrated its 17th annual sports day with on the school premises here. BR Sharma, Principal Secretary, Planning and Development, was the chief guest, while Kiran Wattal, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), was the guest of honour. Raju Chowdhary, vice-chairman, and Arti Chowdhary, Director of Junior School, were also present.
The function started with the unfurling of the National Flag by the chief guest followed by march past by athletes of all four houses of the school. Amarendra Mishra, principal of the school, delivered the welcome address. It was followed by mass PT display by about 500 children of the school.
The main events of the day were 15 final track races for both boys and girls under different age categories besides exhibition of self-defense techniques by both boys and girls through taekwondo.
The chief guest and the guest of honour in their address lauded the school management for maintaining and sustaining high standards in school education and for providing quality education to the children of the entire state.
Later, the dignitaries gave away the medals to the athletes and distributed rolls of honour to students for their outstanding performance in academics and sports. The function concluded with the National Anthem.
