Four IIIT-D students bag Google Women Tech-makers Scholarship

Four students of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) have received the Google Women Tech-makers Scholarship Asia-Pacific 2017.

Four students of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) have received the Google Women Tech-makers Scholarship Asia-Pacific 2017. The prestigious scholarship, previously called Google Anita Borg Scholarship, encourages women to excel and become leaders in computing and technology. Candidates were picked up on the basis of their academic and leadership qualities. Selected students were invited to participate in the Google Scholars’ Retreat, held in Seoul earlier this year. All four recipients have displayed exceptional talent and potential.

Anannya Uberoiis a pre-final year B.Tech (CSE) student. She has developed ‘SafeFirst’— a women’s safety device which sends location alerts to emergency outstanding contacts. 

The second recipient, Katyayani Singh, alsoa pre-final year B Tech (CSE) student, is interested in exploring Human Computer Interaction and Human-Centred Design and wants to use technology to solve real world problems. She interned at the UE-HCI Lab, IIT-Guwahati, designing augmented reality based kin aesthetic learning tools for children with special needs.

Simran Saxena, has a BTech (Honors) degree in CSE is now doing MTech. Her thesis is on Privacy, Security and Crowd sourcing. 

Vahini Ummalaneni is the Institute’s first ECE student to receive the Women Tech-makers Scholarship. She is interested in interested in radars, signal and image processing.


UK certification for Dr Sameer

The Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (UK), The Association of British Clinical Diabetologists and The Society for Endocrinology have certified that Dr Sameer Aggarwal, Associate Professor at Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, has successfully achieved the Specialty Certificate in endocrinology and diabetes.

Dr Sameer Aggarwal, who did his DM (Endocrinology) from AIIMS, New Delhi, is one of the few endocrinologists from the country to have got this certification.
