German delegation interacts with students, researchers

CHANDIGARH: Representatives from leading German universities and research-funding organisations interacted with students, academicians and researchers at Panjab University here regarding various opportunities available to pursue research career in Germany.

Representatives from leading German universities and research-funding organisations interacted with students, academicians and researchers at Panjab University here regarding various opportunities available to pursue research career in Germany.

Stephan Lanzinger, Counsellor and Head of Science and Technology Section of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, said Germany is becoming a favourite destination and in the past five years the number of students there had almost doubled to over 10,000.

Prof AK Grover, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, hoped that students here would benefit from the information and pursue specialised research work with the universities in Germany.

The German delegation also organised an alumni meet later in the afternoon with 50 alumni of German universities at the PGI and also called on the Director. The delegation will meet the researchers at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Mohali tomorrow.

The delegation led by Science Counsellor of German Embassy Stephan Lanzinger and Director of German House for Research and Innovation Dr Alexander P Hansen included representatives from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Freie Universitat Berlin, University of Cologne, University of Gottingen, Technical University of Munich, German Research Foundation (DFG), Forschungszentrum, Julich, and Heidelberg Centre for South Asia.
