New York, August 2

Aiming to showcase Haryana as an attractive investment destination and strengthening business ties, the state's Chief Minister Manohar Lal will lead a delegation to the US and Canada next week and hold meetings with business leaders and diaspora.

Lal's itinerary includes visits to Washington, San Francisco in the US as well as Toronto and Vancouver in Canada from August 16 to 25 during which he will hold meetings with businesses and interact with the diaspora.

The aim of the visit is to showcase Haryana as an "investment destination with its numerous competitive advantages," according to information from the state's public relations and cultural affairs department.

The key focus areas for investment promotion would include energy, aerospace/defense manufacturing, IT, pharma, food processing, auto, textiles, education, medical tourism and Research and Development.

The delegation would also be visiting sunrise projects in these areas in addition to places of historical and cultural importance.

Lal's visit comes over a month after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also led a business delegation to the US in late June to invite American investment and expertise to his state across various sectors.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister had held meetings and discussions with business executives and community members in New York, New Jersey and had traveled to Detroit where he visited the General Motors and Chrysler headquarters and addressed the Maharashtra Trade Development Conference.

He then flew to San Francisco and visited Los Angeles.

Earlier this year in February, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had visited the US and and had invited industries and entrepreneurs to "Make in Madhya Pradesh", drawing upon the 'Make in India' campaign.

He had also launched a global initiative in the city aimed at inviting ideas and expertise from the Indian diaspora in growing the state's various sectors. —PTI
