Dehradun, January 18
Activists of the Uttarakhand Bhumi Bachao Sangharsh Samiti staged a protest at the District Magistrate’s office here today demanding the suspension of a patwari of Hathibarkala village.
The protesters alleged that patwari Jay Pal Singh Rawat was involved in several land scams.
They alleged that Rawat was selling government land to the land mafia. They demanded the setting up of an investigation team to examine the property and call details of Rawat.
Earlier, the protesters gathered at the District Magistrate’s office and raised slogans against the patwari.
Samiti coordinator Pramila Rawat said,” The patwari is misusing his post by selling government land to the land mafia. It is important to form a team to expose him.”
She threatened to intensify their agitation if their demands are not fulfilled.
Jay Prakash Upadhyay, Vikram Gusain, Virendra Rawat, Rakesh Kandpal, Sarla Devi and Neeraj Rawat took part in the protest.
