Namdhari remanded in 2-day police custody

HARIDWAR: Sukhdev Singh Namdhari, chief accused in the Nirmal Virakt Kuttiya ashram case, was remanded in police custody for 2 days on a petition of the Uttarakhand police.

Sukhdev Singh Namdhari, chief accused in the Nirmal Virakt Kuttiya ashram case, was remanded in police custody for 2 days on a petition of the Uttarakhand police. The police sought Namdhari’s custody to interrogate him in connection with the ashram property case.

Namdhari, who was sacked as chairperson of the Uttarakhand Minority Commission, was brought from the Tihar jail by the Delhi police in the morning for a hearing in the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court.

The court granted the state police Namdhari’s remand for two days during which the Haridwar police would interrogate him.

Namdhari is one of the accused in the Nirmal Virakt Kuttiya ashram property dispute case for trying to forcefully and illegally acquire the ashram property worth billions of rupees. He was also made president of a fake committee, which tried to present itself as the original management committee of the ashram and also tried to sell the ashram land by plotting it for commercial purpose.

Nirmal Virakt Kuttiya ashram manager Mahant Bhagwant Singh, a resident of BHEL, filed the complaint against Namdhari. — TNS
