Pargat stars in Jalandhar’s win over Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: Pargat Singh excelled with the bat and ball to enable Jalandhar register victory by 28 runs against Ludhiana in the last league match played in the ongoing Inter-District T-20 Cricket Tournament for Punjab Championship, at PCA stadium Mohali today.

Pargat Singh excelled with the bat and ball to enable Jalandhar register victory by 28 runs against Ludhiana in the last league match played in the ongoing Inter-District T-20 Cricket Tournament for Punjab Championship, at PCA stadium Mohali today.

Pagat played a hurricane innings of 73 runs and then took two wickets for 21 runs to pave the way for Jalandhar to wrap up the issue with ease.

Jalandhar won the toss and opted to bat first. They scored 186 runs after losing eight wickets. The main feature or the innings was an explosive batting by Pargat Singh, who smashed 73 runs facing just 27 balls. His innings was studded with eight sixes and three boundaries.

Besides, Mansab Gill made 12 runs, Himanshu Satyawan contributed 21 runs and captain, Abhishek Gupta chipped in with 28 runs, while Mandeep Singh (Sr) scored 31 runs.

For Ludhiana, Simranjeet Singh accounted for three wickets after conceding 28 runs, while Krishan Kumar got two wickets for 34 runs and Nikhil Chaudhary grabbed two wickets for 32 runs.

The target set by Jalandhar turned out to be an uphill task for Ludhiana as the latter’s reply culminated at 158 runs.

Ludhiana’s innings revolved around Talwinder Singh (21), Nikhil Chaudhary (34), Geetansh Khera (18), Sandeep Singh (14), Kashish Pasneja (22) and Baltej Singh (27).

Prerit Dutta was the most successful bowler for Jalandhar, who got rid of three batsmen after giving away 26 runs. Pargat Singh captured two wickets for 21 runs in four overs, while Mandeep Singh and Rahul Sharma secured one wicket each to contain Ludhiana and helped their side to romp home victorious.
