Suicide by undertial: Kin protest, probe on

The kin of under-trial Naffast Hssain, alias Monu, who allegedly committed suicide in Kapurthala Modern Jail, today protested outside the civil hospital in Kapurthala. They alleged that Monu was lodged at the jail even though he was a minor. Kapurthala Chief Judicial Magistrate Amit Thind has ordered a probe.

Victim’s brother, Avidh, said, “My brother should have been lodged at a juvenile home.” Jagjit Singh Saroya, Superintendent of Police, said the accused was nabbed with drugs on May 28.” —TNS
