Three held for log theft in Nurpur

NURPUR: The police arrested Ravinder, Vijay and Rakesh of Basnaar village for allegedly felling and stealing khair trees on Anoh forest land here last evening.

The police arrested Ravinder, Vijay and Rakesh of Basnaar village for allegedly felling and stealing khair trees on Anoh forest land here last evening.

Police sources said following a complaint lodged by the Block Officer of Nurpur forest division, the police had seized 33 khair tree logs and arrested three persons.

Mahinder Minhas, DSP, Nurpur, said the police had initiated investigation and soon the vehicle would be impounded in which felled khair logs had been transported. Meanwhile, the police handed over the seized khair logs to the Forest Department. The trio were today produced in court, which remanded them in police custody till February 10. — OC
