Yamunanagar, February 21

The police today booked two persons on the charge of abetment after a woman ended her life. The victim has been identified as Babita, of Samata Vihar Colony in Jagadhri. She went missing on Sunday and the body was recovered from the Western Yamuna Canal yesterday.

The deceased’s father, Sant Lal of Delhi, alleged her daughter was tortured and harassed by her father-in-law and brother-in-law. Babita was married to Bhushan Lal of Samta Vihar colony in 2005.

The police have registered a case against Babita’s father-in-law, Dharam Pal, and brother-in-law, Sanjeev, under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC.
