Workshop begins on science activities

SHIMLA: A workshop on “Hands on Science Activities” will help science teachers to learn advanced topics through creativity, enabling them to comprehend different scientific theories easily and make their students learn these theories and experiments with ease.

A workshop on “Hands on Science Activities” will help science teachers to learn advanced topics through creativity, enabling them to comprehend different scientific theories easily and make their students learn these theories and experiments with ease. This was stated by Kinnaur Deputy Commissioner Dr Naresh Kumar Lath.

Inaugurating the three-day workshop, organised by the State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (SCSTE), HP, under Science Popularisation Programme at District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) Reckong Peo, Kinnaur, he said the objective of the workshop was to train science teachers in schools located in far-flung tribal areas where there was no Internet and mass media facility.

Dr BK Tyagi, Scientist E, Vigyan Prasar, was the main resource person for the workshop. He said the SCSTE H P had been involved in science popularisation programmes since its inception in 1986 and had a wide outreach through science popularisation programmes. About 20,000 (twenty thousand) child scientists from 5,000 (five thousand) schools participated in Children’s Science Congress programme every year. The workshop is introducing 50-60 science graduate/ post graduate teachers from tribal regions of Kinnaur district.
