Acid attack on advocate in Sonepat court

SONEPAT: Two motorcycle-borne youths with covered faces today threw acid on advocate Surender Malik when he was sitting in his chamber on the court premises here this morning.

Two motorcycle-borne youths with covered faces today threw acid on advocate Surender Malik when he was sitting in his chamber on the court premises here this morning. He was taken to a private hospital and had reportedly received burn injuries on his face.

In protest against the incident, members of the Sonepat Bar Council led by its president Krishan Malik blocked the Sonepat-Gohana state highway near the Hanuman temple.

On receiving information, Duputy Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar reached the spot and persuaded the advocates to lift the blockade assuring that the accused would be arrested soon.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Ashwin Shenvi reached the Bar Council office and discussed about the security arrangements to be upgraded on the court premises. The SP also assured the arrest of the accused at the earliest.
