Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajinder Kumar (40) today committed suicide by hanging himself from a hook at his quarters in the Haryana Police Academy (HPA) at Madhuban in the district. In a suicide note, he blamed six policewomen responsible for his death.

The victim was earlier posted in the HPA. In the suicide note, he had stated that he was forced to take the extreme step by six women police personnel posted at the HPA as they were harassing him.

“We have registered a case of abetment to suicide against six policewomen,” said SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa.

His brother alleged that Rajinder, when posted at the HPA, was harassed by six women police personnel as he did not allow them unnecessary leaves. These women cops had filed a complaint against his brother, following which he had to face a departmental inquiry and was also punished. He was under pressure due to harassment at their hands and took the extreme step, Rajinder said.

A police spokesperson said that a case had been registered against Monika, Meena, Chetna, Jyoti and two other policewomen. However, no arrest has been made so far in the case.
