The Department of School Education, Haryana, has asked district education officers (DEOs) and district elementary education officers (DEEOs) to make students aware of the ill-effects of smog on human health as well as the effective measures that can be adopted to bring the pollution level down.

Sources say the officers have been asked to ensure that every school under their jurisdiction educates the students about the adverse effect of smog on the environment and human health during assembly, besides giving them suggestions to reduce the pollution level.

“A thick layer of smog has formed due to stubble burning. The smog is not only leading to poor visibility, but also health problems. Therefore, there is an urgent need to make people aware of its adverse effect,” said a communiqué sent to all DEOs by the state education authority.

Dharambir Balrodia, Rewari DEO, said he had already issued the instructions to the head of all government schools in the district to educate the students about the ill-effect of smog and pollution.
